For over a decade, this vibrant community of 250+ singers has reimagined pop, indie, and folk music alongside bold, joyful original choral arrangements. Their spirit of collaboration and creativity has made them a beloved force in Victoria and across Vancouver Island.

The Choirs YYJ are directed by Marc Jenkins and accompanied on piano by Erin Gray. 

The early popularity of our first 125 singer, non-audition community choir, called The Choir, inspired Marc to expand. The Mini-Choir is an auditioned chamber group launched in 2015, and a drop-in choir singing experience, All Together Now, started the following year. Marc created a second large ensemble, The Chorus, in 2017. Sound Dragon pulls 75-ish volunteer singers from both large groups, and Megachoirasorus has them all sing together.

In 2025 a youth choir, The Choir YYJr, joined The Choirs YYJ led by co-directors Brooke Gallupe and Alison Whelan.

The Choirs YYJ is proud to donate all net proceeds from twice-a-year fundraising concerts to local non-profits.
