Vancouver Youth Choir
Founded in 2013 by Artistic Director Carrie Tennant, the Vancouver Youth Choir (VYC) has become one of Canada’s most acclaimed youth choirs. The flagship ensemble of 70 singers is part of a larger organization of more than 700 young people, ages 5–24, who sing across 16 ensembles at 8 levels.
In just over a decade, VYC is now recognized as one of Canada’s most dynamic youth arts organizations, earning international attention for its adventurous programming and innovative performances. Alongside consistently sold-out seasons at home, the choir frequently collaborates with artists across disciplines and has been featured on national radio. Highlights include first prize in the Canadian National Choral Competition (2017), representing Canada at the American Choral Directors Association Convention (2019), performances at the IFCM World Symposium on Choral Music in Istanbul and Carnegie Hall (2023), and a tour to South Korea as the North American representative at the Jeju International Choral Symposium (2024). In 2026, VYC will travel to Ireland to perform at the Cork International Choral Competition.
Now in its second decade, VYC continues to inspire and set new standards for youth choirs worldwide.
