CONDUCTING
MASTERCLASSES
We are pleased to offer conductors of all ages and experience the opportunity to develop their technique alongside some of Canada's finest conductors and clinicians. Mentoring sessions will last 15 minutes each and will be conducted in the presence of a guest choir and in front of conference delegates.
All masterclasses will take place at the University of Victoria.
There will be three different opportunities to work with choirs. Conductors can apply for any of the following categories:
May 16, 2026 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. – 60 minutes (English)
Large choral ensemble with Dr. Julia Davids and the National Youth Choir of CanadaMay 17, 2026 from 8:45 to 9:15 a.m. – 30 minutes (Bilingual EN/FR)
Children’s choir with Patricia Abbott and members of both the Bach Children’s Chorus and the Victoria Children’s ChoirMay 17, 2026 from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. – 60 minutes (English)
Alexander Technique and Tai Chi with Dr. Adam Jonathan Con, Charlotte Herst and the University of Saskatchewan’s Greystone Singers
The application deadline is March 31, 2026.
Candidates will be evaluated by a three to five-member national committee and notified of the results by April 17, 2026.
Please note: If accepted, masterclass participants assume all financial responsibility for their travel, food, accommodation and other related expenses to travel to and participate in the PODIUM 2026 Conference and Festival, including their membership with Choral Canada and their conference registration fee.
